Welcome to the JIMS Project online!

Parts of this website are currently under construction.

In the Spring of 1998 a 12-week pilot youth project was set up in Kilkeel. The premises (kindly donated) were laid out in the theme of Star Trek and was called Jims. The project offered a soft drinks bar, snack food, music, games such as darts, pool and play stations etc. Read more on the ‘about’ page.

Credit Crunch Disco

Credit Crunch Disco

Due to the current state of the economy, JIMS put on a Credit Crunch Disco on Saturday, 2 May, 2009. Because we “couldn’t afford” the function room, we were back in the drop-in room and charged a discounted price for entrance. The challenge for the night was to find the most hideous outfit from either a charity shop or the backs of the closets at home. Though there were some amazingly awful outfits, the night itself was a blast!

Project 6.8

21st July - 31st July

This year JIMS is once more hosting Project 6.8. The vision is straight from Micah chapter 6 verse 8. This year, the programme is a bit longer with loads more work and fun…as well as more time to dig into serving God and the Bible. We will be staying in JIMS for the duration of the 10 days [3rd years and older]. You’re more than welcome to join for the whole deal…or help out for just a day or two!

More importantly, we’d love you to commit to joining the team in praying for Kilkeel. We’ll be searching God’s heart for the community, starting now. Please remember the young people who servce through Project 6.8 as they will be challenged in many ways.

Here’s the scoop:
Tues 21st: BBQ for dinner (one of many I’m sure), training, and settling into JIMS
Wed 22nd – Fri 24th: Bible studies, hard work throughout day, and various fun in evenings
Sat 25th: Fun Day up Hillside Drive, Kilkeel
Sun 26th: Day of REST [Souled Out will be held at JIMS 8.00pm]
Mon 27th: Day of FUN [Dublin or other outside Kilkeel venue]
Tues 28th – Wed 29th: Beach and Walkway clean up [partnering with community members]
Thurs 30 – Fri 31st: Night out at Kingdom Youth Club
Fri 31st: Service of Thanksgiving to be held at JIMS in evening [all members of community are invited]

If you’re interested in joining for the whole programme, a few days, or just part of a day, please talk with Megan Gearhart: 07716514393 or

Weekend at Summer Madness

Friday - Tuesday: 3rd-7th July 2009

The annual Summer Madness weekend is quickly approaching. And JIMS is once more taking a group of young people to Belfast for the camping extravaganza! There will be plenty of late nights that are full of worship, teaching, fellowship, and of course the fun!

This year the price has been cut to a mere £60.00 [this includes food, travel, and addmission into Summer Madness events].

If you’re interested in going this year, please talk with Becca or Kimberly from the crew. If you’d like a bit more information, check out the Summer Madness website: http://www.summermadness.co.uk
