BBC Children in Need Fashion and Talent Extravaganza

On Friday, 19 Novemvber, JIMS joined with people across the UK in raising money for BBC Children in Need. At the suggestion of the youth committee JIMS hosted a fashion and talent show in effort to raise funds.

Three fashion teams competed to come up with styles from each of the decades between the 1950’s and current day. Along with local models, Elivs and the Spice Girls made special appearances on the runway during the night. Between each decade the packed house was treated to local talent. The acts ranged from hip hop to Irish dance, vocal performances to rap. The audience had their obvious favourites, but Gary, William, and Gemma were there as official judges to give their input.

Cheers and shouts went up throughout the night for the different fashion designers and the various talent, but at the conclusion of the night JIMS asked the crowd to put their money where there mouth was and slip coins and notes into the voting boxes of their favourites. While the votes were being tallied, everyone was able to enjoy a performance by Peter Thorogood, last year’s Kilkeel’s Got Talent winner. At the close of the night our host, Peter Thompson, announced the results. The fashion competition was close; less than £1 separated the top two teams. In the end Robert Annett’s team pulled ahead…keep your eye on this up and coming young designer! The talent competition winner was a runaway. The Academy Dance junior team soundly defeated the rest of the competition and were gracious enough to treat the audience to an encore before the evening closed.

Thank you to all who took part or attended. Friday night over £550 was raised for BBC Children in Need. When this is combined with the amounts raised during the street collection and car wash, the total that JIMS will be sending to Pudsey will be £1475.57!! Thank you for your support and generosity!
