BBC Children in Need Fundraiser
14th November, 2008, JIMS, Kingdom, and the Net hosted a talent show at JIMS through which over £900 was raised for BBC Chilren in Need! Thank you to all who supported the event!
Friday, November 14th was BBC Children in Need Appeal. We at JIMS had an evening of excitement planned for the whole community.
After much brainstorming, the JIMS team invited The Net and Kingdom Youth Club to participate in ‘Kilkeel’s Got Talent’. With local talent from both Kingdom and JIMS ready to entertain, JIMS was happy to bring Pudsey himself to help Jason from The Net welcome our audience.
Both Kingdom and JIMS had a variety of acts: singing, well-written musical sketch, Diablo, and dancing. We were proud to award William Hutchinson the winner of the evening with his performance of When You Say Nothing at All. In second place we had Nuala from Kingdom with a close third: Peter Thorogood, Andrew Annett, Jason Nugent, and Stefan Murphy and their musical sketch.
All proceeds from the door went directly to BBC Children in Need. Our voting policy was a creative means of raising further funds. Overall, the evening brought in over £900 for the charity.
We’d like to give a huge thanks to all who participated and supported the evenings’ events.
We are very excited by the turnout and audience participation. The community in Kilkeel truly did come out and support the event—both young and old!
