Bedpush for BBC Children in Need
Numerous youth from JIMS Youth Centre took it upon themselves to push a hospital bed from Kilkeel to Annalong…all for the sake of charity!
Once again JIMS had a crazy idea, a sponsored ‘bed-push’ all in the name of Children In Need. It sounded like great fun walking to Annalong pushing a bed, and at the time no one considered the distance! Despite this many signed up and the sponsor money came rolling in. At 9.30am on November 8th loads of young people turned up at JIMS ready to conquer the approximate 6 mile walk. Once we’d set off it took around five minutes for the embarrassment of walking through Kilkeel with a bed to fade and we started to concentrate on the task ahead. It didn’t take long for the line of traffic behind us to build up either. About an hour and a half after leaving Kilkeel, Annalong was in sight. Without a doubt we were the happiest group of people in Annalong at that time! We definitely deserved the biscuits and juice kindly provided for us at The Net! Walking to Annalong getting strange looks from passers by was definitely worth it, and Children In Need will benefit from it as well!http://www.thejimsproject.org.uk/images/news/bedpush_for_website.jpg
