Champions League Final
On Saturday, 22 May, JIMS hosted a BBQ and big screen showing the Champions League Final. Over 60 young people and staff came to watch Inter Milan face off against Bayern Munich.
Though there was no English in the final this year, many young people still showed up as Inter Milan fought Bayern Munich for a 2-0 victory and the European Cup. It was the first time in 45 years Inter Milan has won the cup and the title gave the the treble this season of a national cup, a national league, and European Cup. The crowd in JIMS got into the match, cheering for the goals scored and groaning over missed opportunities.
For those who only partially watched the match, or didn’t watch at all, the function room was set up for drop in. Young people played pool, table tennis, and playstation. If the coke and burger from the BBQ didn’t fill them up, the tuck shop was open too. Some guys organized their own pool competition while other just sat around the room and chatted with their friends. We made the most of the big screen by showing The Bourne Ultimatum once the match and trophy presentation were over. The match, BBQ, and overall atmosphere of the night resulted in great craic for everyone!
