Dance-A-Thon for BBC Children in Need

Dance-A-Thon for BBC Children in Need

On Saturday, 14 November, a group of young people congregated in the square and started dancing…and didn’t stop!! They were dancing to raise money for BBC Children in Need in this years fundraiser organized by JIMS. In all the young dancers collected over £600 in sponsorship money and more than £300 pounds was collected on the streets that day!

The dance-a-thon ran for four hours in the town square. James and Ashley, both a part of Fusion, came along to DJ and to help encourage our young dancers. Together the music and the dancing attracted the attention of those driving and walking past. Several leaders and young people were on hand near the street to help man the collection buckets that day. Pudsey was also in attendance and seemed to enjoy the dancing as much as the young people from JIMS. Another group joined us for part of the day. Academy Dance, which has been holding classes in JIMS, brought three classes of dancers. Their performance— especially the appearance of a mini-Michael Jackson— helped draw an even bigger crowd. After four hours, we ended with a BBQ in JIMS for all those who had taken part.

JIMS appreciates Academy Dance taking the time to come and join with us in our efforts to raise funds for BBC Children in Need. We would also like to thank all those who stopped and cheered us along or sponsored our dancers!
