Halloween Residential

Halloween Residential

This Halloween holiday, 21 people made the long journey to the north coast of Ireland. Youth and leaders alike enjoyed tours, a safari, shopping, and adventure activities.

The 21 participants began there 3 days of fun with a tour of the Tayto factory; many agreed that the non-flavoured crisps weren’t that nice. Following this experience, we ventured onto the open water for a sea safari – one boat load enjoyed watching seals along the light houses (thanks to North Irish Divers).

Our second day was full of fun and lots of driving…in the end, we made it to the Giant’s Causeway (which remains a highlight for numerous youth). The young people were brave enough to step to the edge of the Giant’s rock bridge and watch the waves roll in. Following this outdoor fun, the group spent an afternoons shopping at Junction One…at which a few lucky folks found some great buys.

On the final day, our group got lost (thanks to Megan) before enjoying a new experience at The Jungle: zorbing. Most of the group took turns rolling down a hill hopeful that they would survive. In addition, the facilitators at The Jungle were amazing as all participated in team building activities before being washed away in the rain.

Although a very active few days, the group did take time for discussions based around good relations; the leaders from JIMS and Kingdom helped the youth open their minds to the beauty in our differences through discussing personalities and racial/religious diversity. Through these discussions, the youth were able to share opinions, ideas, and get to know each other a bit better.

This trip was made possible by the International Fund for Ireland.
