Home-grown Social
Saturday, the 17th January JIMS opened its doors for the first in-home social. Our own Becca Dean facilitated the evening; it was full of laughs, fellowship, and amazing moves. We learned to dance the ‘Hoedown Throwdown’ (including Timothy Johnston and Andrew Gordon), played ‘Shuffle Your Buns’ and enjoyed free pizza from RICO’S cafe.
Our first social was a success according to organizers and youth alike. Those that attended left with positive reports. Our youth were introduced to a new variety of games (as directed by an American) and a wonderful dance.
A few of the games included the traditional party games such as: Grab a Granny, Honey Do You Love Me, and Do You Like Your Neighbor. The group was encouraged to participate in all – though some were spectators, they still shared in our laughs. The dance lesson, as prepared by Becca, was taught by Hanna Montana via youtube and was a delight for all. It seems common sense that this new dance shall be requested at all future discos.
Thank you to all the staff who helped make the night happen. It took a lot more than usual to run the social as well as maintain drop-in with the extended cafe – for that, the JIMS team is thoroughly thankful for your time.
