Kick off to Midnight Football
Friday, 7th May, brought the boys for a heated competition at Kingdom Youth Club. With five teams beginning the battle there was much excitement for the spectators from Kingdom Youth Club and JIMS Youth Centre.
Thus far, Kingdom A has risen to the top.
Once more, JIMS and Kingdom Youth Club have partnered in delivering a midnight football programme. This year, we have various team from the Mourne Area. Unlike previous years, this time around we’re playing the first 3 weeks as a league and the final night as a knock-out…therefore, we’ll have 2 winning teams (unless the same team wins both obviously).
The first night the teams played two matches each – and with much energy each team was determined to win. After numerous tackles, goals, and saves, Kingdom A has risen to the top with the most points. Next week we will two more teams entering the fun.
In addition to the football matches, the teams participated in a seminar concerning hate crime. The boys seemed to thoroughly enjoy the discussion and engage with the material.
For those youth that come out to support and cheer on their favorite teams, there was certainly excitement. The girls from both JIMS and Kingdom who came to simply watch commented that they were glad they came and are looking forward to next week.
