Manchester United Trip

Manchester United Trip

At 5 AM on Saturday, 17 October, twenty-eight excited young people boarded a bus in Kilkeel headed to England to watch a Manchester United match. The group was made up of young people and leaders from both JIMS and Kingdom. The group had met together twice over the previous weeks getting to know each other….and the rules!

The day was a long one. The bus ride to Dublin was followed by several hours on the ferry to Holyhead and then another bus trip to Old Trafford. Everyone enjoyed the excitement of the match and were pleased with the United win. Several of the young people hit the Manchester United Megastore afterwards, while others waited near the back of the stadium to watch the players leave. After checking in at the hotel, the group headed to the Trafford Centre for dinner and some shopping.

After breakfast at the hotel on Sunday morning, the group boarded the bus for the return trip to Holyhead. Everyone enjoyed the pitstop for lunch before getting back on the ferry. All the young people found ways to pass the time while sailing. Some read, others played cards. One group of boys even created a new game on the top deck involving a bouncy ball….or better put, lots of bouncy balls! It was a tired group that returned to Kilkeel Sunday evening, but a group that had enjoyed a great experience and developed new friendships.
