Work up Hillside Drive

Work up Hillside Drive

Over 34 young people from JIMS took part in Project 6.8 this year. Our first week included gardening, children’s games, and rubbish removal up Hillside Drive.

This year, JIMS invested in student leaders who lead work teams each day – they managed a group of 6-8 young people throughout the course of the week helping to ensure that the work was getting done. In addition, we were able to have a specialized team who invested in the local children; this group hosted a treasure hunt and and afternoon of games…in addition, they organised a mini olympics which will take place the last week of August.

Not only did the young people enjoy working each afternoon, the group studied the book of Micah in context of the whole Bible. We all benefited from the facilitators – thanks for taking time to prepare and lead our discussions and studies.

Upon reflection, many young people enjoyed making new friends with team members as they weeded gardens and picked up litter alongside each other – JIMS hopes these friendship will continue to deepen in the coming year.
